Eat Right For Your Blood Type by Dr. Peter D’Adamo is a small, but powerful book. Based on your blood type, this book recommends certain foods that are beneficial like “medicine”, certain foods that are neutral, and certain foods to avoid like”poison”. The bad foods increase inflammation in your body. Specifically your gut and brain. The Brain/Gut Axis was discussed in a previous blog about Dr. Kharrazian’s work on this topic.
What researchers are realizing is that when the body stays chronically inflamed, it increases the likelihood of cancer, stroke, diabetes, heart disease and obesity. This all links back to the foods we are eating. Certain foods like wheat and dairy have been genetically modified by companies like Monsanto. The changed molecular structure of these new molecules doesn’t “match” the digestive enzymes our bodies produce. This causes the proteins from these foods to cross the blood brain barrier as undigested proteins that have been agglutinated from our own immune system. Basically our bodies immune system look at these proteins as foreign invaders. These agglutinated molecules then get “stuck” in our arteries, joints, heart, brain, GI tract and elsewhere causing tremendous harm.
Our joints get arthritic, our arteries and heart get clogged, our gut gets leaky, and our brain degenerates. This all ultimately leads to dementia and Alzheimer’s in the brain, heart attack or myocardial infarction of the heart, and IBS, Colitis, Crohn’s, and other inflammatory bowel diseases. Also, as our body stays inflamed, it gets acidic and the risk for cancer increases. So the reality is that all the medicine that people are taking to combat these diseases could be prevented in the first place by changing the foods you are eating to better match your blood type.
I personally have been following the recommendations in the book for about 3 weeks now and within the first week I lost about seven pounds. My gut or abdomen decreased in size along with my waist size. I started this program not to lose weight, but to decrease the amount of inflammation in my gut and brain.
